Pierre St-Martin was born in Berthierville (Quebec, Canada).

Passionate about drawing since childhood, it’s at the age of six that he began his first drawing lessons. Around the age of eleven, discovering that in addition to the passion, he had some talent, he enrolled at the École des Beaux-arts de Montréal where he learned oil painting techniques with a charismatic and talented religious named Sister Lucille.

During the years that followed, Pierre St-Martin painted oil portraits and landscapes to various individuals, enabling him to pursue his college education.

After a few years to paint, he found his niche; animal painting. Inspired by Ray Harris-Ching, Australian wildlife artist and by Robert Bateman, Canadian wildlife artist, St-Martin dropped the oil to develop his own technique of lead paint to indulge in his new passion: animal paintings.

From that time, he developped a unique technique combining the techniques of oil painting and drawing. Indeed, using various shades processed powder pencils, he discovered he could apply these using modified brushes to achieve different textures.

After a few years, his passion for the animal world went exclusively into these beautiful winged creatures such as birds. For each painting done, St-Martin spends on average between 250 and 350 hours. His studio surrounded by nature, an enchanting place where birds gather, is another living source of inspiration which helps to give life to his creations.

His works are found in many art books.
